About the Role
As a Key Stage 1 ECT, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact during a child’s early educational journey. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, child-centred lessons that encourage curiosity, foster independence, and lay the foundations for future learning.
Responsibilities of the ECT KS1:
* Plan and deliver creative and effective lessons for pupils in Year 1 or Year 2.
* Support children’s progress across the Key Stage 1 curriculum, including phonics, early reading, and numeracy.
* Create a safe and stimulating classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and learning.
* Assess, monitor, and record pupils’ development to inform planning and reporting.
* Collaborate with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and colleagues to meet individual pupil needs.
* Engage with parents and carers to support pupil development.
* Contribute to the wider school community and uphold safeguarding standards.
Job Requirements:
* Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with ECT status.
* Specialism or placement experience in Key Stage 1 is desirable.
* Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
* A nurturing approach and ability to inspire young learners.
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
* An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
