Vehicle Shift Fitter: Would you love to be part of a professional engineering team that maintains and repairs a modern and varied fleet of vehicles?
We’ll provide training and development to help you grow your technical skills on a varied Public Service Vehicles fleet. Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire operates 303 vehicles over 5 sites, and our Carlisle team is looking for people from a vehicle mechanical/electrical engineering background to join our growing team. You may currently work with trucks/HGV, rail, light commercial or automotive settings, but you’ll have the opportunity to work with a different vehicle type to broaden your skills. If you have PCV experience, you’ll also find opportunities to learn with our diverse fleet.
Our Carlisle depot operates a varied range of vehicles—from minibuses to double deckers on a daily basis—and we work with Alexander Dennis, Volvo and Optare vehicles.
You’ve probably seen our vehicles around Carlisle and the surrounding area, transporting our customers across Cumbria and beyond. These customers rely on our services to get to work, the high street, hospitals, days out and nights out, and as part of our engineering team you’ll help ensure our vehicles are in tip‑top condition.
It’s a really important role within our depot, and we’ll make sure you’re supported just as we look after our vehicles. Don’t worry if you’ve not worked on these vehicles before (or buses) – we’ll train you on everything you need to know, and you’ll be supported by a great team of Electricians, Mechanics, Technicians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. There’s also the possibility of working away from the depot to deal with vehicle issues on the road.
Aside from delivering an incredible experience to our customers, we offer:
* Job security – we’ve been going since 1980, turnover of £1.3bn, and we’re not planning to stop.
* Safe environment – boots, overalls and specialist equipment provided so you have the right kit.
* Free travel – for you and a companion on our buses, including days off without parking or fuel costs.
* Promotions – opportunities to progress; you’ll be exposed to work that develops your skills and experience, with many Engineering Managers and Directors coming from internal growth.
If you have an engineering background with a vehicular focus (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm – if it moves, it’s relevant experience for working on buses) and a passion for quality work with a great team, we’d love to receive your application.
Stagecoach workplace culture is inclusive and supportive of everyone. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, race, religion/beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation or age.
