Overview
Wokingham Borough Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team – the single front door into Children’s Services and Early Help. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for children and families from the very first point of contact.
Responsibilities
As a Social Worker in MASH you will play a crucial role in processing contacts within 24 hours, speaking with members of the public, professionals, and families to provide detailed analysis and recommendations about next steps. You will complete safety planning where required and ensure robust decision‑making at the front door, in line with our Threshold document.
The MASH team works in a hybrid way, with social workers on a rota basis in the office two weeks out of three, so flexibility is essential. You will join a multi‑agency team that includes representatives from Police and Health, with virtual links to Housing, Probation, Education, and specialist services such as Cranstoun Domestic Abuse & Substance Misuse. Together we ensure the child’s voice is central to every decision.
Qualifications
– Qualified Social Worker (or equivalent) with a passion for children and families.
– Sound understanding of children’s legislation, thresholds and front‑door decision‑making.
– Excellent interpersonal skills, strong recording abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
– Demonstrated ability to manage multiple caseloads and to work collaboratively with partner agencies.
