Overview
Astute’s Power team is partnered with a global waste management company, who operate a portfolio of Energy from Waste Power Stations, to recruit a Shift Team Leader for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Birmingham, West Midlands.
Salary
* Up to 66,877.68 + Up to 15% Bonus + Overtime + Benefits.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
* Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
* Managing the site safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
* Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
* Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
* Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies.
Professional Qualifications
* Have a technical qualification, ideally have a HNC minimum qualification (not a necessity), in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Being HV Senior Authorised Person will be highly advantageous.
* Ideally have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
Personal Skills and Prior Experience
* Prior experience working in operations within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power (EfW, Biomass, CCGT, OCGT, Coal, etc.), Steelworks, Refineries, COMAH sites, etc.
* Excellent proven leadership skills.
* Experience working with steam raising plant.
* Good Knowledge of safe systems of work and health & safety within a power station or similar heavy process environment.
