CONTROL ROOM ENGINEER role at Morson Talent. Location: Manchester. Salary: £50,000 - £77,000 + Benefits. Shift work required.
This role places you at the center of monitoring and managing the electricity distribution network that powers millions in the North West. You will make real-time decisions in fault restoration, system control, and outage planning to keep homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses connected.
What you’ll do
 * Monitor and manage the electricity distribution network in real-time.
 * Lead on restoring customer supply during unplanned faults, restoring supplies safely and efficiently to meet performance targets.
 * Perform power system analysis to support safe plant operation, generator output and system security.
 * Liaise with internal dispatchers, field engineers, embedded generators, and other DNOs to keep operations smooth.
 * Deliver top-tier customer service, especially during incidents, keeping internal teams and customers informed.
 * Prioritise safety, following legislation and company codes of practice.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for individuals who are driven, analytical, and calm under pressure. Ideal candidates will have:
 * An HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (essential).
 * A sound understanding of electrical power systems and network operation.
 * Excellent communication skills—clear, calm, and customer-focused.
 * A strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
 * High computer literacy and confidence with complex operational systems.
 * Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate across teams, customers, and third parties.
 * A desire to contribute to reliable energy delivery for the community.
