SEN Teaching Assistant - College Setting
Location: Northampton
Hours: Full-Time (Term-Time)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Long-Term with potential to become permanent
Are you a compassionate, resilient, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to join welcoming and inclusive colleges in Northampton, supporting learners aged 16-25 with a variety of additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of students with SEN, helping them to achieve both academically and personally in a further education setting.
The Role:
1. Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities
2. Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons and college-based learning activities
3. Support students with life skills, social development, and independence as part of a person-centred approach
4. Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals to ensure all students are fully supported
5. Promote a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment for all learners
6. Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
We're Looking For:
7. Previous experience supporting young people with SEN, preferably in an educational or care setting
8. Strong communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills
9. A proactive and flexible attitude with a team-oriented approach
10. A good level of literacy and numeracy - GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths
11. A relevant qualification in SEN support or education (desirable but not essential)
12. An understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow relevant procedures
