Salary: £38,784 – £43,482.

Reporting to: Head of Digital Transformation.
Responsible for: Project Delivery – Digital Portfolio & BAU Initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Project Manager plays a critical role in maintaining delivery capacity across the University’s digital and transformation portfolio. This role is responsible for the structured planning, coordination, and control of non-\u2018Nexus\u2019 projects and change initiatives, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, time, cost, and quality parameters while the PMO Lead is assigned to the Nexus Programme. Working across business stakeholders, technical teams, and suppliers, the post holder maintains detailed delivery plans, manages risks and dependencies, controls change, and ensures disciplined governance and financial oversight. The role safeguards continuity of the University’s wider digital portfolio, preventing delivery slippage, maintaining stakeholder confidence, and ensuring transformation momentum outside of Nexus is sustained.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Lead the structured delivery of assigned digital and business change projects to agreed scope, time, cost, and quality parameters.
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans, managing milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements across multiple concurrent initiatives.
* Identify, assess, and manage project-level risks, issues, and interdependencies, escalating material concerns through appropriate governance channels.
* Maintain financial tracking and reporting for allocated projects, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and internal control frameworks.
* Coordinate business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure clarity of roles, accountability, and timely decision-making.
* Support controlled implementation and transition into business-as-usual operations following project delivery.
* Provide structured reporting into portfolio governance forums to maintain transparency and delivery confidence.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
* Perform other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis as reasonably required.
Person Specification – Essential Criteria Only
* Recognised project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, APM, Agile PM) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Formal training in risk management, governance frameworks, or financial control (or equivalent experience).
* Experience of project management across full lifecycle in complex environments.
* Experience managing enterprise system implementations.
* Experience managing risks, dependencies, and multi-stakeholder delivery.
* Experience working within regulated or governance-driven environments.
* Experience in Higher Education (desirable but advantageous).
* Experience delivering digital or technology-enabled change within complex organisations.
* Strong organisational and planning capability with attention to detail.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain delivery discipline.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Ability to operate calmly and structurally under delivery pressure.
