Required to fill one replacement post within the Older Peoples Medicine Department at the St Jamess University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Older Peoples Medicine Department at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust is a dynamic, forward-thinking team with a strong track record of clinical excellence, education and innovation. The successful candidate will join a large team of Consultant colleagues, supported by a team of resident doctors of all grades, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and 4 Physician Assistants, who are committed to delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Older Peoples Medicine Team. The post has the opportunity to focus on Orthogeriatrics and bone health including inpatient orthogeriatric care, perioperative optimisation, rehabilitation planning and involvement in the development of integrated frailty pathways. The department is actively engaged in service transformation aligned with the Trusts Hospital of the Future programme, offering opportunities for leadership, innovation and teaching. We welcome applicants with a passion for improving outcomes for older people and a commitment to collaborative, patient-centred care.
Job responsibilities
The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine and its related specialties including Orthogeriatrics. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on: “How would you plan to develop orthogeriatric services in Leeds and what will be the key targets and challenges?”
