Are you an experienced production professional with a strong background in manufacturing leadership? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Manager to join a well-established optical laboratory based in Dyce. This role is key to ensuring smooth, efficient, and cost-effective production operations, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing, the Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the lab, coordinating production schedules, managing a team of Technicians and Supervisors, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Production Planning & Scheduling:
* Developing and maintaining production schedules to meet demand and delivery targets.
* Monitoring progress, adjusting plans to minimise downtime and ensure efficiency.
* Allocating resources (staff, equipment, materials) to support production goals.
Team Leadership:
* Leading, motivating, and managing a team of production staff and Supervisors.
* Conducting performance reviews, supporting training and development, and resolving personnel issues.
* Promoting a high-performance culture focused on quality and safety.
Process & Efficiency Improvement:
* Analysing workflows and identifying areas for improvement.
* Applying lean manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
* Monitoring KPIs and implementing actions to drive continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance:
* Maintaining high product quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
* Investigating and resolving quality issues quickly and effectively.
* Implementing and maintaining quality control systems and procedures.
Cost & Budget Management:
* Supporting the preparation and monitoring of production budgets.
* Controlling material usage, labour costs, and overheads to maintain profitability.
Health & Safety Compliance:
* Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Promoting a culture of safety and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
Maintenance Oversight:
* Overseeing equipment maintenance and ensure all machinery is operating efficiently.
* Liaising with Maintenance Teams to minimise disruptions to production.
Reporting & Documentation:
* Maintaining accurate records of production, inventory, and staffing.
* Producing regular reports on performance, output, and issues.
Applicants to this role require:
* Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar production management role.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methods.
* Proficient in production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Relevant certifications (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) would be advantageous.
