Data Governance & Data Management Lead

This fast-growing FTSE 250 organisation is on an exciting journey to transform how it manages and uses data. It is building the foundations for a single source of truth, eliminating duplication, and ensuring its data supports key business initiatives and projects like the implementation of new CRM, HR systems, and PIM.
This is a fascinating opportunity for someone who is passionate about data, to help drive this transformation. We are seeking a Data Governance & Management Lead to join this small (but growing) data team and help embed best practices, improve data quality, and champion data governance across the business. This is a brand-new role—an opportunity to help shape the organisations' data future from the ground up.
What You’ll Be Doing
Hands on leadership of Data Governance & Strategy – Implementing the data governance framework and ensuring data ownership is well-defined.
Improving Data Quality – Managing key initiatives to enhance customer and product data integrity, measured via our data quality dashboard.
Stakeholder Engagement & Education – Driving data literacy, engaging teams across IT, Sales, Finance, and Leadership to embed a data-driven culture.
Working Closely with all departments – eg Partnering with IT to define best practices for data management, integration, and quality control.
Supporting Major Business Projects – Playing a critical role in delivering accurate data for our new CRM, HR, and PIM systems.
What We’re Looking For
A Data Champion – Someone who understands the value of clean, well-managed data and can communicate its impact to technical and non-technical stakeholders. We want someone who’s as passionate about what data can do as we are.
Strategic Thinker & Doer – You’ll help set the strategy but significantly we want someone who gets things done and is hands-on in delivering change.
Excellent Communicator – Ability to translate complex data challenges into business-friendly language.
Problem-Solver – Comfortable managing multiple priorities, navigating conflicting demands, and making data governance engaging and accessible.
Experience in Data Governance & MDM – You understand Master Data Management (MDM), data stewardship, and governance frameworks. We don’t require an expert in these subjects, but a strong awareness and understanding is needed.
Proactive & Collaborative – Able to work cross-functionally, influence senior leaders, and support the Head of Data Strategy.

This role can be based out of either Manchester or down in Buckinghamshire. For guidance, this role carries a salary of £80k + Bens
