THE ROLE
A great opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Intermediate Electrical Engineer to develop their skills and career within a highly regarded, sustainability-led consultancy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce electrical design calculations, drawings and specifications for LV power, lighting, fire alarm, security and data/communications systems across healthcare, education, commercial and industrial projects
Develop detailed design packages using CAD and BIM (Revit MEP) through all RIBA stages
Carry out electrical load calculations, cable sizing and basic protection coordination studies
Incorporate low carbon electrical solutions including EV infrastructure, PV systems and smart building technology into designs
Liaise with architects, structural engineers and other design team members to coordinate electrical services
Attend design team and client meetings, contributing technical input and supporting project delivery
Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, schedules of equipment and specifications
Support senior engineers on complex projects and take ownership of smaller schemes independently
Maintain awareness of current Building Regulations, IET Wiring Regulations, and relevant industry standards and best practice
Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with structured support, mentorship and CPD funding
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
MEng or BEng degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
2–5 years' experience in electrical building services design
Experience with LV power, lighting, and/or fire alarm/security systems
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
Working knowledge of BIM/Revit MEP (or willingness to learn)
Understanding of IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and Building Regulations
Strong technical and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
Experience across multiple project sectors (healthcare, education, commercial, industrial)
Knowledge of low carbon electrical systems (EV infrastructure, PV, battery storage)
Familiarity with electrical design software (Amtech, Dialux, Relux or similar)
