Community Manager (Micro-Communities)

Micro-communities are a vital part of the RSA’s Fellowship strategy, enabling Fellows to connect around shared interests, identities, and themes. This role is central to launching, growing, and sustaining these communities, both online and in-person. The right candidate will be evangelical in facilitating community-led engagement and empowering volunteers to lead vibrant, inclusive spaces.
Key Skills:
* Experience in community building and volunteer engagement
* Ability to coach, support and develop micro-community leaders
* Strong understanding of shepherding and moderating online communities
What to Look For:
* Proven success in launching or growing communities, and building supporting processes
* Experience of coaching volunteers or peer leaders, and developing a playbook
* Familiarity with community engagement tools and online platforms
* Fosters trusting relationships and demonstrate empathy.
2. Digital Communication & Platform Management – High Weight
Why It Matters at RSA:
Our online platform, Circle, is the digital home for RSA’s micro-communities. This role requires someone who can communicate clearly and engagingly online, moderate discussions, and ensure a welcoming and productive digital environment. They’ll also support community leaders in using the platform effectively.
Key Skills:
* Excellent digital communication and writing skills
* Experience managing or moderating online communities
* Ability to train and support users on digital platforms
What to Look For:
* Examples of digital content or community moderation
* Experience with community platforms (e.g., Circle, Slack, Discord)
* Evidence of supporting others in digital engagement
3. Strategic Planning & Execution – High Weight
Why It Matters at RSA:
This role is not just about day-to-day management—it’s about building a roadmap for the future and delivering on that. The Community Manager will develop a two-year plan to grow 20 core micro-communities, aligning with RSA’s strategic priorities and ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience.

We want to ensure our communities are impactful and evolving. The Community Manager will use data to inform decisions, improve engagement, and measure success. This includes feedback from Fellows, platform analytics, and engagement metrics.
