Position : Principal Design Engineer
Location : Campsie/Farlough

We have an exciting roadmap ahead for new products, services, production capacity and business expansion. As a result of this continued success, we are expanding our teams. We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Engineer, Ecotec Brand based at Campsie or Farlough, Dungannon site.

About the Role
Working with the relevant departments and reporting to the Engineering Director, the Principal Design Engineer will provide expert product design leadership and develop / detail new designs and where necessary create detailed prototype testing plans. They will provide leadership on design projects and ensure a specified solution is implemented within the agreed schedule and costs.
Responsibilities
5. Leading the development and documentation of design processes for products designed within the company.
6. Responsible for the accuracy and successful delivery of product design projects, for the product definition and design phases, concessions and production permits.
7. Design, prototype, assess and review mechanical components and assemblies.
8. Provide support in product acceptance, testing and validation activities.
9. Prepare and participate in requirements and design review meetings.
10. Undertake analysis of mechanical components, assemblies and systems, as well as manufacturing and assembly processes.
11. Oversee and participate in prototyping activities.
12. Support of the design, manufacturing and shop floor activity when required.
13. Provide technical support for the company's product range across manufacturing, development and procurement.
14. Provide engineering support for material selection during the design and development phase, including the design and development of tests to verify performance.
15. Provide technical assistance to both external and internal customers, joining company representatives at customer sites as and when required.
16. Support the cross functional team in problem solving and troubleshooting.
17. Maintain a high level of technical knowledge coupled with ongoing professional development, for the joint benefit for the job holder and the business.
18. Work with the engineering team to oversee warranty and product return reviews.
19. Mentor, coach and develop engineering talent.
20. Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required at the discretion of your manager.
About You
Experience & Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
21. Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering, ideally with design experience in heavy equipment.
22. Competent user of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally Pro-Engineer and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems
23. Good technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems
24. Diligent approach to the design and development process
25. Experience of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation and hand calculations for design analysis.
26. A good understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
27. Creativity and innovative thinking
28. Experience with Oracle TMS a plus
29. Good English communication skill, both written and spoken;
30. Good Presentation and interpersonal skills.
