Are you an experienced and passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Amery Vets and take on a leadership role in our thriving 3-branch veterinary practice.
As our Head Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key role in leading and supporting our nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients. You'll have the opportunity to influence the development of clinical practices, mentor junior nurses, and work closely with the veterinary team to ensure smooth operations. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, including one Saturday morning every three weeks until 1:30 PM.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance and support.
* Oversee patient care, ensuring best practices in all nursing aspects.
* Assist in managing clinical and operational procedures, including stock control and protocols.
* Perform a wide range of nursing duties, including surgeries, consultations, and inpatient care.
* Collaborate with the Practice Manager, Clinical Director, and veterinary team to improve efficiency and patient care.

We are a well-established, 100% small animal practice located next to the South Downs National Park, less than an hour from the coast, with easy access to London via train and Gatwick/Heathrow airports. Our varied caseload allows for no two days to be the same, with 15-minute appointments to facilitate case work-ups.
We strive for excellence in management, medicine, and service, aiming to enrich the human-animal bond. We have a visiting orthopaedic surgeon for complex cases and are equipped with digital x-rays, ultrasound, and dental equipment. Our supportive team includes 6 Vets, 4 RVNs, 1 SVN, 2 Anaesthetists, and 6 Receptionists across three surgeries on the Hampshire/Surrey border. What we are looking for
A qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for mentoring, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Previous supervisory or senior nursing experience is highly desirable.
