This role offers an excellent opportunity to work across the South Devon Health Community, providing high-quality physiotherapy care in a wide variety of clinical settings. These include ward environments, outpatient departments, intermediate care facilities, community locations, and patients' own homes.
As a member of the Bank team, the post holder will be required to work flexibly across different services and teams. This position is well suited to a confident and adaptable physiotherapist who is able to work independently, while also engaging proactively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
To providetimelyPhysiotherapy assessment and treatment interventions to patients presenting across a variety of clinical specialities. Bank work placement could be across any of the following clinical care settings: MSK outpatients, acute and community inpatient settings including neuro and community settings including Intermediate care, Neuro and Community Physiotherapy.
To utilise clinical reasoning to support admission avoidance, early mobilisation, and safe, effective discharge planning.
To support patient flow by providing rapid access to physiotherapy interventions that promote recovery, independence, and safe transition home or to onward care from inpatient settings.
To work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
To providesupport to Band 3/4/5's and students as isrequired.
You willprovide senior leadership to their specialist area and deputise for the Band 7in their absence, and take operational management of the team,allocatingand organising the work to meet daily priorities.

Job responsibilities
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, including professional and legal accountability and managing clinical risk for all aspects of own work. Some aspects of work will involve delivery of the care as part of a multidisciplinary team. In most cases to be the sole health professional with responsibility for that patients episode of care.
To undertake advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse or complex physical, psychological,cognitiveand behavioural conditionsin order toprovidean accuratediagnosis and prognosis. To formulate and deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes, including patient education, provision of exercise (individual/group), and other alternative options. This includes theappropriate selectionof referrals for inclusion in a range of treatment programmes, one to onesessionsusing advanced treatment options, advanced communication,questioningand reasoning skills.
To undertake,as directed,collection of data for use in service audit and research projects. To manage and undertake research in specific areas of clinical practice and service delivery using a range of research methodologies as part of MDT audit and departmental research initiatives. To make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service, for changes to team practice. To implement specific changes to practice asrequired.
Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in physiotherapy
* State registration - current HCPC registration
* Experience within the NHS including experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in a broad rotational post covering a range of experience in respiratory orthopaedics, elderly care, medical, surgical, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent Postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field
Knowledge
* Experience in the core clinical areas of physiotherapy within an NHS setting - areas to include a range of respiratory, musculoskeletal, acute inpatient and elderly care, trauma and orthopaedics, community or intermediate care, neurological conditions
* Specialist expertise across a range of procedures relevant to the core clinical areas, underpinned by theory or relevant practical experience
* Experience supervising student physiotherapists or physiotherapy assistant/technical instructors/support workers
* An understanding of Clinical Governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues and participation in research and audit
Skills
* Experience of working in inpatient, outpatient and community settings
* Experience of decision making, time management and maintaining interpersonal working relationships
* Ability to develop and implement specialist physiotherapy treatment for patients being seen in core clinical areas
* Experience working with a strength based, person centred approach to assessment and treatment
* A clean valid driving licence. Own transport.
