Accountant
Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 DOE
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm or part-time within school hours
We re recruiting an Accountant on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice based in central Harrogate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice professional to join a supportive and growing team, offering long-term career progression and development.
Responsibilities of the Accountant role:
* Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing their accounting, VAT, and corporation tax requirements
* Prepare financial statements, VAT returns, and corporation tax submissions for partner review
* Liaise directly with HMRC and other regulatory bodies
* Provide support and advice to clients using cloud-based systems such as Xero
* Identify opportunities to enhance client services and contribute to business development
* Mentor and manage a small team
Key requirements:
* Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
* Strong account preparation experience and understanding of VAT and corporation tax
* Proficient in Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
* Organised and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills
* Comfortable liaising with a variety of clients and managing relationships
