Job overview
The Vetting and Validation Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Endoscopy service will be responsible for daily triage assessments of referrals, ensuring investigations are appropriately vetted and validated within required timescales. The role involves providing expert clinical knowledge, teaching, and training nursing colleagues, while ensuring the delivery of specialised patient care in line with best practice and up‑to‑date guidelines. The specialist will support advanced endoscopic procedures, contribute to service improvements, and collaborate with the team to address operational and educational needs. This position is integral to maintaining high clinical quality standards and supporting both patients and healthcare professionals.
Main duties of the job
* Develop UHD endoscopy nurse led vetting clinics for endoscopy referral in line with JAG, national and regional guidelines including fast track OGDs / GA
* Be involved in the development of new nurse led services (follow-up Clinics)
* Daily triage assessments of patient referrals
* Regular involvement with patient’s health education/promotion
* Supporting endoscopy nursing staff with training and operational issues around advanced endoscopic procedures ie RFA, FTRD .ESD, complex colons and upper GI therapeutics
* Liaising with appropriate Clinicians, Specialist Nurses and MDTs
