We are looking for 4 acute paediatric consultants to join our dynamic and friendly department at the West Middlesex University Hospital.
The successful candidates will be enthusiastic and energetic paediatricians trained to consultant level. The department is undergoing expansion and re-organisation and this is an opportunity to join the team as we develop our service and introduce a designated attending rota for our acute pathway. These posts are new substantive posts in order to expand our workforce.
There is ongoing work to develop an ambulatory service and we have recently launched a nurse led 'hospital at home' service. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop and expand the acute pathway and ambulatory services at West Middlesex.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage and care for patients within the acute paediatric pathway through ED and the PSSU, working closely with colleagues in the local CCG and other relevant agencies to improve the acute pathway for Children and their families.
WMUH is a respected training department supported by deanery trainees and the candidate will be able to support junior doctors in training and join part of our successful educational faculty.
The successful candidate will participate in the attending rota on the acute pathway. There is no overnight resident commitment. Out of hours, the candidate will provide 1:16 on call cover, providing cover for SCBU, paediatric ward and acute pathway. In addition there is a 1:16 on site late cover between 1700 and 2130 and 1:16 Twilight cover on weekends between 1330 and 2130

In 2018, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London stated their intent to collaborate on the development of an integrated care system for paediatric services spanning West London.
West London Children's Healthcare will unite paediatric services from across West London together into hubs that link closely together to support clinical care provision, research, education and training. The hubs will be networked with referral hospitals and primary care networks to optimise local care wherever possible for children whatever complex healthcare needs they have and to facilitate a population health approach.
Over 1500 staff across 4 hospital sites with a bed base of 296 will come together to deliver £100m+ paediatric services providing over 115,000 outpatient attendances and 16,000 elective procedures annually, with the aim of improving the health and well-being of the almost half a million children and young people who live in west London.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will cover general paediatric and rapid access outpatient clinics. A special interest will be considered according to the needs of the department. Our Allergy, Haematology, Gastroenterology and Respiratory services are particular opportunities for subspeciality development.
The post is based at the West Middlesex Hospital site, but may be required to work at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site, in line with service requirements..
Post-holders will be able to:
1. Deliver excellent care throughout the acute pathway, including the PSSU and support the on-going development of this service
2. Develop patient pathways alongside colleagues working in the Trust emergency department, UCC and local GPs to improve the acute paediatric offer
3. Support the governance and development of the service
4. Promote early and safe discharge
5. Participate in consultant delivered care on the wards
6. Deliver consultant review of all non-elective admissions review within 12 hours of admission in conjunction with the on call consultant
7. Trainee educational supervision

8. Full GMC Registration
9. CCT in Paediatrics or equivalent OR eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register within 6 months
10. Enhanced DBS Clearance
11. Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
12. MRCPCH or equivalent
