Main duties of the job
As a salaried GP you will manage and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. In general you will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
As a GP you will recognise the importance of great communication within the team and will strive to:

Job Responsibilities
* In accordance with the agreed job plan, the salaried GP will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including:
* Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, telephone triage, visiting patients, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, processing clinical documentation, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Participate in the duty doctor rota.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referral or referral from other healthcare workers.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers.
* Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols and NICE guidance.
* Ensure appropriate follow‑up of patients.
* Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Prescribe generically whenever appropriate and in accordance with the ICB and Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by BNF guidance).
* Comply with all objectives of QOF targets, ICB initiatives, nationally or locally commissioned enhanced services.
* Complete reports for solicitors, insurance companies and other third parties.
* Work with and support other members of the primary health care team in delivering high‑quality primary care.
* Take an active role in delivering clinical governance.
* Promote preventative health care and advice where appropriate.
* Lead on training, supervising and supporting learners (e.g. medical students).
* Adhere to NCPC agreed clinical procedures and protocols.
* Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
* Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
* Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, including clinical and non‑clinical training.
* Participate in practice clinical meetings.
* Provide information when reasonably requested to ensure personnel and other records are accurate (e.g. hepatitis status).
* Participate in the GP revalidation and appraisal scheme; maintain portfolio of continuing professional development activities.
