We are seeking an exceptional technology leader to oversee our global site reliability engineering (SRE), DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams. This hands-on engineering leadership role requires someone who can both provide technical vision and build strong stakeholder relationships across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership to drive our engineering excellence forward.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
1. Serve as a hands-on technical leader who can architect, design, and guide the implementation of highly resilient systems
2. Build a compelling vision and strategic roadmap for our SRE, DevOps, and Platform Engineering functions
3. Establish and evangelize engineering best practices across teams and the wider organization
4. Drive technical innovation while ensuring operational excellence
5. Provide architectural guidance to ensure systems meet resilience, scalability, and performance requirements
Team Leadership:
6. Lead and mentor a high-performing team of DynamoDB specialists, SREs, DevOps engineers, and platform engineers across global locations
7. Develop team members through goal setting, performance management, and career development planning
8. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence
9. Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent
10. Create growth opportunities for team members and help them achieve their career aspirations
Stakeholder Management:
11. Build and maintain strong relationships with technology and business stakeholders across the organization
12. Effectively translate business requirements into technical solutions and strategic initiatives
13. Partner with development team managers and technical leads to align platform capabilities with product roadmaps
14. Represent the team in senior leadership forums and drive cross-functional initiatives
15. Manage expectations and communicate effectively about team initiatives, capabilities, and constraints
Required Skills & Experience:
16. Extensive experience in engineering leadership roles
17. Strong hands-on technical background in cloud platforms, containerization, and modern DevOps practices
18. Demonstrated experience leading SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering teams
19. Deep understanding of system architecture, resilience patterns, and high-availability design
20. Experience developing strategic roadmaps and executing technical vision
21. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
22. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
23. Track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent
24. Experience leading distributed global teams
Desired Skills:
25. Experience in financial services technology environments
26. Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, observability platforms, and CI/CD technologies
27. Background in transforming legacy systems to modern architectures
28. Experience with DynamoDB and cloud-native database technologies
29. Understanding of UK and global financial regulatory requirements
