3 months contract with a local authority Job Purpose The Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for investigating and resolving alleged breaches of planning control, many of which are complex or high ‑ profile. The role ensures that development within the Borough is carried out in accordance with approved plans and planning conditions. Key Duties/Accountabilities Investigate alleged breaches of planning control and assess appropriate courses of action. Research planning histories and assess plans and documentation to determine compliance. Undertake site visits, surveys, measurements, and evidence gathering. Interview landowners, occupiers, and members of the public, including taking formal statements where required. Negotiate compliance with planning controls and seek proportionate resolutions. Essential Experience Required Significant experience in planning enforcement and related legislation and procedures. Experience conducting site investigations, collecting evidence, and researching documentary records. Experience interviewing members of the public and taking formal statements. Experience using computerised systems to manage cases and records. Essential Qualifications Required Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret technical plans, drawings, and legal documentation. Good record ‑ keeping and case management skills. Additional information to note Working Hours: 36 hours per week High Street, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9SD, United Kingdom Work pattern - 3 days remote, 2 days in the office. We work on bi-weekly schedule.
