We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant with a good standard of numeracy and literacy and excellent interpersonal skills.
Working as the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant you will be enthusiastic and calm and will have a genuine interest in working with students who have a variety of additional needs.
As the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant you will work closely with teaching and non-teaching staff and will provide support across a range of different curriculum subjects. The ability to work flexibly and independently are important qualities for the role.
DUTIES
Your duties and key responsibilities as the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant will include:
1. Participate in the evaluation of the learning support programmes
2. Maintain student progress records
3. Assist the development of a system of recording student’s progress
4. Contribute to reviews of student’s progress
5. Carry out special duties where necessary for students with disabilities (training given)
6. Take into account the special needs of students to aid them to learn as effectively as possible, for example:
7. clarifying and explaining instructions
8. ensuring that all students are able to use equipment and materials provided
9. motivating and encouraging student as required
10. assisting in weak areas, language, behaviour, reading, spelling, handwriting and presentation, etc
11. helping students to concentrate on and finish work set
12. meeting physical needs as required whilst encouraging independence
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
13. Must have a genuine interest in working with students who have a variety of additional needs
14. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
15. Good standard of numeracy and literacy
16. Able to work flexibly and independently
17. Calm under pressure
18. Experience in the classroom would be an advantage
