Job Description

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to updating and amending permitting processes and guidance, aiming to improve England’s water quality. You will play a key role in delivering regulatory actions from our delivery plan, focusing on permitting chemical substances. The work will primarily involve regulation of water discharge activities. You will lead specific work areas and collaborate with team members to support their initiatives. Flexibility and creativity are essential, as you may work in unfamiliar areas without established processes or guidance. You will be supported by specialists within the team and organization. Tasks include reviewing surface water permit guidance, developing innovative permitting approaches, and creating standard rule sets.
You should be customer-focused, seeking opportunities to collaborate with government agencies, industry, and environmental bodies.

The team
You will join the E&B Water Regulation – Water Quality Permitting Strategy Team, a dispersed team working on broad surface water permitting issues, engaging with diverse customers and technical teams across the country.

Experience/Skills Required
* Experience in water quality permitting and wastewater discharge regulation
* Enthusiasm and experience in collaborative and innovative work
* Effective communication and engagement skills to motivate and resolve conflicts
* Ability to develop and share technical expertise collaboratively
* Support and deliver projects
* Willingness to undertake national travel as needed
