* Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a full or part-time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
* Current MaineHealth employees advancing to an RN position may be eligible for an Up-Skill bonus; former MaineHealth members are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment.
All new graduate RNs (less than 1 year of RN experience) hired into regular status positions are automatically enrolled in our Residency program alongside their unit-based employment.

Unit Bio
The surgical intensive care unit (SICU) provides care for critically ill patients requiring surgery or recovering from surgery. Patients may be too unstable for a regular nursing floor, or ICU-level monitoring may be necessary for specific procedures. The unit is managed by physicians with a surgical background.
Summary
The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by demonstrating excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, in accordance with national standards and institutional policies. Care may be provided across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
Minimum Requirements
1. Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Valid RN license in Maine.
3. Experience: Entry-level position; ICU experience preferred but not required.
4. Knowledge: Basic understanding of nursing principles, practices, and research.
5. Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, analytical ability to monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately.
6. Additional: New graduate RNs with less than 6 months of RN experience are enrolled in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program. Exceptions may be considered for RNs transferring from other organizations or with prior formal orientation.
7. Advancement: Clinical Nurse I meeting performance criteria at 12 months may be promoted to Clinical Nurse II.
