This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, flexibly between 08:00 – 20:00.
The purpose of this post is to work within a fast-paced Food Testing laboratory to maintain a clean, hygienic working environment within the Ipswich Laboratory, with continuous stock control for all working stations to aid in smooth sample processing.
No laboratory experience required; full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Assist the laboratory in stocking up individual workstations to help achieve optimum production from the laboratory.
* Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE when in the laboratory.
* Prepare supplement broths, medias and dry pre-poured media ready for use in the laboratory.
* Organise stock rooms and help maintain stock rotation.
* Have knowledge of disinfectants and prepare them daily for in-lab use.
* Remove waste from the laboratory throughout the day and maintain hygiene of internal bins and waste system.
* Be familiar with relevant health and safety legislation and ensure that all relevant hazard signs are used when appropriate.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks as designated by your line manager.
* Help manage deliveries to the business to ensure all incoming goods and consumables are dealt with promptly.
Qualifications
* 5 or more GCSEs
* Experience in working as part of a team
* Good organisation and time management
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to self-motivate
