Are you an experienced Estimator looking to join a company thriving in the civil engineering field?\n \n Are you looking to get involved in exciting projects across a range of civil engineering sectors?\n \n Do you thrive in estimating high value projects to ensure maximum efficiency during project delivery?\n \n If so, please apply below!\n\n The Opportunity \nDue to increased expansion, our client, a leading principal contractor, are looking to recruit for both an estimator and senior estimator to be based out of their offices in Swindon or London. This is a great opportunity to join a company rapidly expanding in a range of different civil & construction markets.\n \n This role can be based in Swindon or London \n\n Remuneration & Benefits\nCompetitive salary of £80,000 - £85,000 per year, plus excellent benefits such as Company Car Allowance, fantastic Pension, Healthcare, plus many more\n\n Your duties and responsibilities will be\nEnsure company governance procedures are followed at all times\nWork in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing\nAgree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planner and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manager\nProvide advice to Bid Manager / Design Manager on most cost effective design options\nPrice alternative design solutions\nProcedure competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions/ situations relevant to the scheme.\nAdvise Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required.\nPreparing the price estimate for tenders of budget pricing comprising the following aspects:\nDevelop local rates/ build up rates for self-delivered items\nEnsure Working Rule Agreement (and any other specific requirements such as London Living wage) included in labour rates\nPrepare scheme specific labour rate calculation where required.\nDevelop local rates/ build up rates for self-delivered items\nLiaise with Planner to reconcile plant resource levels\nComparison sheet for materials considering unit rate (conversation factors), wastage, waiting times and part loads etc.\nLiaise with procurement to determine appropriate selection of suppliers to send enquiries to.\nLiaise with procurement to determine the sufficiency and compliance of supplier quotations\nLiaise with procurement and agree on the selection of supplier quotations to be used in the estimate\nLiaise with procurement & bid team to determine appropriate selection of subcontractors to send enquires to\nPreparation of comparation sheet for subcontractors details additions/ deletions from quoted rates.\nLiaise with Planner / Technical Services / Temporary Works Coordinator to agree extent and nature of temporary works.\nAgree costs of temporary works with temporary works coordinator.\nAgree staffing levels and procedure staff programme with Bid Manager and Operations Lead.\nUse currently weekly staff rated to price staff\nAgree shift patterns and overtime rates with operations lead for out of normal hours working - note these need to comply with working time directive/ NR Fatigue guidance\nLiaise with Planner to determine overall duration of preliminaries\nCoordinate and liaise with Bid Manager to ensure all aspects of clients requirements included as neccasry (CCS/CEEQUAL etc).\nInput with Bid Manager and tender risk manager into tender risk/ opportunity register\nProcedure top-sheet tender summary in current format and associated back up sheets\nPresent Pricing build up at pre-settlement and settlement meetings.\nPrepare adjustments sheets in coordination with Bid Manager to reflect settlement adjustments.\nPrepare final pricing documentation for inclusion with tender submission – where possible ensuring pricing maintains a positive cash flow throughout the project.You will have the following qualifications & experience\nSound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques.\nKnowledge of relevant procurement legislation.\nCommercial awareness of different forms of contract.\nSound knowledge of the governance and procedural requirements for work winning.\nDetailed knowledge of estimating software packages.The setting for the role \nRisks and Hazards are in line with working in an office. These can include display screen equipment, stress, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, fire and emergency, work equipment and electrical safety and temperature.
