About the Role

Empowering Learning are seeking a compassionate, motivated Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply psychological theory to real‑world practice and gain hands‑on experience supporting children with a diverse range of additional needs.

Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals, you will play a key role in helping pupils to access learning, build confidence, and develop essential social, emotional, and behavioural skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional & mental health needs.
* Implement personalized learning strategies and behavior support plans.
* Assist the class teacher in adapting resources to ensure inclusive learning.
* Promote emotional wellbeing and help pupils develop coping and self‑regulation techniques.
* Observe, monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessments and reviews.
* Help create a safe, encouraging and nurturing learning environment.

About You

* A degree (or pending degree) in Psychology or a related field.
* A genuine interest in child development, special educational needs, and inclusive education.
* Strong communication, patience and empathy.
* Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
* A proactive, reflective and flexible approach to supporting learning.
* Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

What We Offer

* A supportive, welcoming team with strong values around inclusion and wellbeing.
* Ongoing training, CPD opportunities and SEN‑specific development.
* A fantastic opportunity for aspiring Educational or Clinical Psychologists, SEN Teachers, or those interested in mental health and education.
