Employee Relations Advisor (Maternity Cover)
Location: York YO60 6PG
Contract: Fixed term contract (7 months, with possibility of extension)
Salary: £28,500 - £32,000 a year
Role Overview
Supporting managers and employees across the organization on employee relations matters, providing expert advice and managing ER cases.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters.
* Manage ER cases from start to finish, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and appeals.
* Ensure all ER matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and company policies.
* Support managers with short‑term absence management, probation reviews and flexible working requests.
* Coach and upskill managers on MAP policies, procedures and best practice approaches.
* Support employees and managers with progression planning through Monster Progression Plans (MPPs).
* Assist with UK payroll administration and provide support with payroll‑related queries.
* Collate, analyse and report on people data including absence trends and ER metrics.
* Occasionally support with delivering training sessions and workshops on people‑related topics and workplace policies.
* Work collaboratively with the wider MAP team to provide a positive employee experience.
* Regular travel to Scunthorpe sites and occasional travel to Venlo, Netherlands warehouse.
Qualifications & Skills
* Demonstrable experience providing HR and ER advice within a fast‑paced environment.
* Strong knowledge of employee relations processes, policies and UK employment law.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and support stakeholders at all levels.
* Positive, proactive and approachable attitude with genuine passion for supporting people.
* Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
* Confident using HR systems and IT packages, including HR reporting tools.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Solutions‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
* CIPD Level 5 would be great, but is not essential.
* Knowledge of Dutch employment law would also be advantageous, but not essential.
* Previous payroll administration experience would be beneficial.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Working Hours & Location
Full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) with flexible start and finish times between 8:00am‑9:30am and 4:00pm‑5:30pm. Lunch breaks can be 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Based fully in the modern office near York (YO60 6PG). Own transport essential.
