We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Derby, starting ASAP. The school has a strong Early Years Foundation Stage provision, providing a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children are supported academically, socially, and emotionally, with a focus on developing independence and curiosity through play-based learning. As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support daily learning activities. You may provide 1:1 or small-group support, assist with lesson preparation, and help create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment where children feel confident and motivated to learn. Key Responsibilities Support the EYFS teacher in delivering daily lessons and activities Provide 1:1 or small-group support to children as required Assist in planning and preparing engaging, play-based learning experiences Observe and record children’s development to inform planning and assessment Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence Support daily routines including snack times, outdoor play, and personal care Promote social interaction, communication skills, and emotional development Work collaboratively with EYFS colleagues and other school staff Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience working with young children, ideally in an EYFS or nursery setting Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic Have a good understanding of early childhood development Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children The school is located in Derby, with excellent transport links and a welcoming, friendly community.
