This is an exciting opportunity to work in an extremely busy Trust, providing admin support to the Breast Surgery Unit at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

The team requires a highly organized Deputy Service Delivery Manager to provide a range of duties. They will be responsible for actively managing the administrative processes of Breast Surgery patients, the associated administrative staff, to ensure a smooth and efficient pathway from referral to treatment.

Candidates must have excellent communication, experience of line management of administrative staff; including recruitment, appraisal, development, performance, and allocation of work/resources. Implementing suitable cross-cover arrangements when required to cover annual leave and sickness within administration team.

The successful post holder will be comfortable and familiar with using data and informatics reports to inform priorities, as well as working with and communicating across a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have experience in leading an administrative team, can demonstrate an ability to deliver sustainable service improvement and has a track record of continually improving quality and patient experience in line with Trust and NHS requirements and standards

The post will play an important role in the co-ordinating of patients through their clinical pathway by ensuring that the administrative processes and information are efficient, effective and in line with Trust and NHS referral to treatment (RTT) standards.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibilities of the post-holder will include Implementation of service developments.
Delivery of access and Cancer performance standards.
Delivery of quality and activity targets.

The post-holder will be expected to deputise for the Admin Manager’s and Service Manager when required. Competent in the management of personal workload to meet both corporate and personal deadlines. Prioritise workload in a way that enables the delivery of both important and urgent tasks.

Manage staff and delegate appropriate tasks, ensuring the competence of the staff to whom work is delegated. Organise staff briefings, service and business meetings as appropriate. Facilitates MDT & Audit meetings where appropriate.

Facilitates collaborative working between all stakeholders inside and outside of the Site – this will include a wide range of clinical and non-clinical staff.

Undertaking capacity and demand exercises in order to best plan and deliver services, proactively implementing actions identified.

4. At leas 2 years relevant NHS operational management experience
5. Excellant communication skills (verbal/written), including demonstrable experience fo writing quality reports s
6. Staff management experience
7. Able to analyse and interpret complex information
8. Experience of successfully managing a budget
9. Detailed knowledge of Referal to Treatment and Cancer targets, and demonstrable experience in the achievement of this
10. Up to date knowledge of NSH policy
11. Project management experience
12. Ability to cope with large workloads, work under pressure and meet deadlines
