Principle Practitioner Dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist
Permanent - Part Time - 22.50 hours per week. Are you an experienced Speech & Language Therapist with specialist skills in eating, drinking and swallowing? This highly specialist community role within our Children's Therapy Service forms part of our service redesign.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership to SLT staff undertaking an Early Developmental Support (EDS) role in Pennine, supporting the development of expertise in early years feeding.
* Work with the Clinical Lead for EDS in a shared responsibility for clinical care pathways; engage in research, evidence-based practice, and current treatment approaches; contribute to referral and system pathways.
* Support the day-to-day management of Speech and Language Therapy staff in collaboration with the Team Coordinator and wider leadership team (including AHP Consultants).
* Provide effective clinical and professional supervision, identify training needs, and lead the delivery of suitable training, demonstrating high level SLT skills within EDS.
* Support student placements and meet travel requirements of the post.
Qualifications
* Professional Degree or equivalent in speech and language therapy
* Current Professional Registration with HCPC
* Validated/nationally recognised postgraduate advanced competencies in the management of dysphagia
Essential Knowledge & Experience
* Detailed understanding of clinical governance framework and implications for practice, including audit and research governance
* Extensive knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools for children with diverse needs
* Extensive knowledge of therapy techniques and programmes for children with diverse needs related to paediatric dysphagia
* Evidence of recent and relevant postgraduate experience in the specialist field; multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
* Extensive experience of working with children with complex needs and their families in community settings
