The YMCA’s Camp Willson, located in Bellefontaine, is seeking enthusiastic, patient, and sometimes silly Camp Counselors for the summer! Our counselors supervise and lead groups of campers in programming that is safe, fun, and fosters a lifelong love of camp. Staff will oversee groups of kids in the boys' and girls' bunks, with room and board provided.
Leadership will report on May 27, 2025, and is expected to work through the camp season, ending August 19, 2025.
Description:
The Assistant Summer Camp Director is a dynamic leader supporting the overall management of camp operations. With a focus on camper well-being and program quality, they collaborate with the Camp Director to ensure a safe, engaging, and memorable experience for all. Responsibilities include staff coordination, activity planning, and fostering a positive camp community. The role is pivotal in shaping the camp’s success and enhancing the campers’ summer adventure.
Unit Leaders are key members of our leadership team, focusing on advanced camper matters. They support staff management and lead planning and execution of land activities and evening programs. This role ensures a seamless camp experience by combining expertise in camper relations with coordination of engaging activities, creating lasting memories.
Seasonal Details:
Full Time (140 hours/week). Training begins virtually once all positions are filled, with in-person training starting on May 28. Camp concludes no later than August 10.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma; completion of at least one year of college and camp experience preferred.
* Ability to coordinate, organize, and teach activities in areas such as Aquatics, Creative Arts, Outdoor Living Skills, or Sports and Fitness.
* Must possess enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
* Passionate about the Y’s mission of nurturing potential, supporting healthy living, and community support.
* Understanding of the YMCA's role and the roles of volunteers and staff.
* Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds.
* Proven ability to develop authentic relationships.
* Ability to foster a collaborative team environment for problem-solving.
