The role of the Nurse or Paramedic Non-Medical Prescriber involves the assessment, treatment, and discharge of both scheduled and unscheduled urgent cases across all age groups. The post holder will utilize their non-medical prescribing qualification to support patient care in accordance with the local formulary. As senior clinicians, they will also assist staff authorized to issue medications via PGD with their prescribing decisions.
The post holder will oversee the daily operations of the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and, in the absence of the operations manager, will manage general inquiries, staffing issues, complaints, and support junior staff as needed.
You will be supported by a friendly clinical and administrative team. Induction and training will be provided, and SWASFT will cover your medical indemnity. This role is evolving within the Trust and may change to meet organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Autonomous assessment, treatment, and discharge of adults and children presenting with minor injuries and illnesses, following local policies and national guidelines.
2. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Urgent Care Treatment Centre.
3. Ensuring comprehensive assessment of patients' needs, appropriate care planning, delivery of care in line with best practices, and ongoing evaluation.
4. Supporting the Operations Manager to enhance patient care and deputizing in their absence.
