Job Title:Team Leader

Department:Operations

Location:Office based & Service Specific (Note: You First operates across Somerset; you must be prepared to travel across the county on a regular basis)

Rate of Pay:

* Salaried: £28,956
* Hourly Rate: £15.05
* + £150 weekend on call retainer

Contact Type:Permanent, full-time hours (37 hours per week)

Working Hours:Working as a Team Leader in 24 hour operation care, you will be expected to work a shift pattern to ensure we are meeting the needs of the business. Shifts are 07:00-15:00 or 15:00-22:00 four weekdays (Monday to Friday) and you will be expected to work every other weekend.

Oncall:There is a requirement to take part in the on-call rota during the week (additional payments are made for this) and a requirement to cover one on call retainer weekend in four. A weekend retainer payment of £150 is made in addition to the noted salary for this.

Our Client is a forward thinking, innovative and market leading Social Enterprise, formed as a Community Interest Company (CIC), that enables autistic people, people with learning disabilities and/or mental health illness to build and grow their lives in a way that is both meaningful and purposeful for them.

The Role:The Team Leader position is a front-line operational management role. You will support the day-to-day operation of You First Support Service, in a front-line management position working along your designated Locality Manager (Registered Manager). The aim of your role will be to support the smooth running of day-to-day operational requirements, in line with our person-centred approach. You will provide this though a mixture of admin (hands off) and hand on (direct support).

Split of Time:Work 70 % hands off (this includes direct support in the office, time out of the office supporting key quality & compliance function in people own homes) Support 30% Hands on support (Direct/hands on support to the people we support). Please note these are not an exact split of your time but an estimation, these figures may vary based on business need.

Key Duties & Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

* Deliver One-to-Ones to Support Workers (Supervision)
* Role modelling best practise in positive behaviour support and communication.
* Complete Return to Work interviews with Support Workers
* Chair & minute, Micro-Team Meetings
* Review/Audit Records, including creating action plans to work on along with your Line manager.
* Carry out observations of social care practice, including medication assessments & observation of practise.
* Support organisational key compliance functions, such as audits, service visit.
* Complete & update Risk Assessments.
* Supporting & updating care plans, including Mental Capacity Assessment & other relating documents.
* Support as On Call retainer, one weekend in four by being available to cover last minute Support Worker absence. This is paid at £150 per retainer, then your hourly rate from when you leave your home. (The expectations is that you help cover your colleague retainer when there are sick or on annual leave to ensure safe practise with business continuity functions.)
* Support Worker Roster writing & covering of the Roster.
* Support Person Centre Recruitment practices.
* Supporting the use, monitoring, action and auditing of digital systems.
* Take direction from your Locality Manager
* Operate and promote best practise.
* Support & manage day to day operational functions in line with organisational policy and procedure.

Essential requirements include:

* Full driving licence, access to a reliable car with business insurance. Ability to travel and cover Somerset county and bordering counties.
* Hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or be committed to achieving this
* Ability to deal with challenging situations in a calm and effective manner, managing risk
* Creative and innovative approach to solution finding
* The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
* The ability to lone work and on own initiative without direct supervision
* Maintain a professional manner at all times with regard to confidentiality. Always be mindful of empowerment, enablement, dignity and respect.
* The ability to keep calm in emergency situations
* Working with and taking direction from locality Managers or Business Operations Manager, complete quality assurance led tasks to support compliance led responsibilities, such as medication competencies.
* Flexible manner with a commitment to team work.

Desirable requirements

* Two years experience of working with autistic people and people with a learning disability or complex needs.

Duties to include

* Deliver services based on the expressed wishes, cultural needs and support plans of those who use our services.
* Assist and encourage people to make choices and life decisions in line with the Mental capacity Act.
* Facilitate the accessing of local social and community facilities.
* Assist and encourage people to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities based on their personal choices.
* Support people to manage their own homes, including supporting people to manage their own tenancies and providing safe support and guidance where necessary.
* Provide direct personal care and support in line with the individuals support plan which may include toileting and bathing if required.
* To work as a positive, constructive and enthusiastic team member.
* Support those who use our services to take prescribed medication as directed by appropriately qualified and trained health professionals
* Contribute toward the personal development of those who use our services through promoting, enabling and developing communication.
* Provide stimulation through the planning and delivery of programmed activities.
* Follow confidential processes for the appropriate collecting, handling and storage of information. Maintain any records pertaining to those who use our services.
* Effectively communicate information to those who have a need for such information.
* Contribute toward statistical returns and secure financial record keeping, including the personal finances of each person served.
* Contribute toward You Firsts Life Design assessment process and the development of Person Centred Support Plans in conjunction with team colleagues, the person we support, their family and other key professionals.
* Assist and advise those who use our services with basic personal finance management and local shopping activities as directed and when required.
* To support team colleagues and respond to the immediate health and well-being needs of those who use our services by ensuring timely support and professional assistance is obtained from team colleagues and others, when required.
* Day to day contact with a range of health and social care professionals and other agencies. To pass and receive information relating to those who use our services. To plan and contribute toward and attend meetings as a member of the care support team.
* To take responsibility and joint ownership for own personal and professional development. To access training as and when required and to contribute toward effective and innovative care.
* Act as a role model and mentor to new staff. Undertake wake in nights and sleep-in as and when required under the direction of the management team.
