About the Role
We are excited to offer a brand‑new opportunity for a Food and Growing Officer, funded by the Glasgow Communities Fund.
Based at our newly refurbished Hope House Community and Growing Space, you will lead the development and delivery of community food‑growing initiatives. This role focuses on promoting urban agriculture, improving food security, and bringing people together through sustainable growing practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage local residents to identify needs and encourage participation in food‑growing activities
* Plan and deliver workshops, training sessions, and community events
* Lead food‑growing projects from idea to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
* Build partnerships with schools, community groups, and local organisations
* Promote sustainable practices such as organic gardening and permaculture
* Support food security initiatives, including use of locally grown produce and redistribution of surplus food
* Work with food banks and partner organisations to support those in need
* Assist with fundraising, grant applications, and reporting to stakeholders
About You
* Experienced in community development, urban agriculture, or a related field
* Knowledgeable about sustainable growing practices and local food systems
* A confident communicator who can engage and inspire a diverse community
* Organised, with project management or event delivery experience (desirable)
* Passionate about food security, sustainability, and community empowerment
