SHEQ Advisor – Networks (Civil Engineering) Location: Kent & East Sussex (Site and regional coverage) Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 benefits About the Role We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable SHEQ Advisor to support our Networks division within the civil engineering sector. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) are maintained across multiple projects in Kent and East Sussex. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to project teams, helping to drive compliance, embed a positive safety culture, and support continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Provide specialist SHEQ advice, guidance, and support to project and site teams across the Networks portfolio. Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legislative requirements. Lead and support incident investigations, producing accurate reports and recommending corrective and preventative measures. Assist in the development, implementation, and review of SHEQ management systems and procedures. Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings to enhance workforce awareness and competence. Promote and embed a positive safety culture, encouraging reporting, learning, and proactive risk management. Liaise with clients, supply chain partners, and regulators on all SHEQ matters. Monitor, analyse, and report on SHEQ performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.Requirements Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor (or similar role) within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, CDM regulations, environmental management, and quality standards. Relevant professional qualifications such as NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate (essential); Diploma or equivalent is advantageous. Membership of a professional body such as IOSH, IIRSM, or CQI preferred. Experience in conducting audits, investigations, and implementing management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001). Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Kent and East Sussex.Package & Benefits Competitive salary £55,000 – £65,000, dependent on experience. Company car or car allowance.
