Role: Lecturer - Childcare and Primary Education

Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note - Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 15 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Childcare and Primary Education to join our Health, Social Care & Childcare department at The Bedford College Group

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Teaching & Assessment - Deliver engaging lessons across Childcare, Primary Education, and Health & Social Care programmes, ensuring inclusive, high-quality learning experiences that meet awarding body standards.
* Curriculum Development - Prepare schemes of work, create innovative resources, and contribute to new course development aligned with industry needs and funding priorities.
* Student Support & Progress - Monitor learner progress, provide 1:1 support, maintain accurate records, and implement interventions to achieve outstanding KPIs in attendance, retention, and achievement.
* Quality & Compliance - Participate in internal quality assurance, uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety requirements, and meet all administrative and assessment deadlines.
* College Engagement - Promote programmes through marketing activities, support employer partnerships and industry placements, and engage in CPD to maintain sector knowledge and best practice.


About you

* Qualifications - Level 3 or higher in Early Years or Primary Education; GCSE English & Maths (or Level 2 within one year); willingness to achieve Certificate in Education.
* Experience & Knowledge - Recent sector experience in Early Years or Primary Education; understanding of current developments; experience working with diverse backgrounds and promoting equality.
* Teaching & Student Support - Ability to prepare schemes of work, deliver inclusive lessons, monitor progress, manage behaviour, and support achievement across varied levels.
* Skills & Professional Standards - Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills; commitment to safeguarding, health & safety, and college values; ability to work collaboratively and professionally.
* Flexibility & Development - Passion for outstanding teaching, adaptability under pressure, commitment to CPD, and willingness to work across sites and varied hours.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.
