North Oxfordshire Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technician to support the Food/Hospitality Department. The role involves providing technical support to teaching staff and maintaining a safe, clean environment to facilitate high-quality teaching.
The position is term-time only, working 30 hours per week from 9am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. We are flexible to a pattern of 9am to 3pm.
About the role
The Food Technician will work flexibly, supporting various tasks including:
* Assisting teachers with resource and equipment preparation for lessons.
* Supporting practical sessions during lessons.
* Maintaining a safe and tidy environment in classrooms.
* Managing storage of food items and equipment, ensuring hygiene and safety standards are met.
* Supporting teachers with lesson materials, demonstrations, and managing student behaviour.
* Performing regular checks and maintenance of equipment.
* Ordering supplies and ingredients, keeping expenditure records.
* Implementing school policies and health and safety protocols.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
* Is highly organized, capable of managing time independently to meet deadlines.
* Has experience in a food-related role, preferably in a school setting.
* Has a passion for education and culinary arts.
* Possesses technical proficiency with kitchen equipment.
* Is proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Can handle difficult situations sensitively and empathically.
* Has a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
* Is adaptable and able to multitask in a busy environment.
* Has a strong work ethic and a desire to make a difference.
