Laboratory Technician Leprino is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our team on a permanent basis at our Magheralin site. In this key role, youll support the continuous improvement of product quality by conducting a variety of tests on raw materials, finished products, and production areas. Hours of work : 42 hours per week, working day shifts only from 7am 7pm. This post includes weekend work as part of a rotating schedule. Salary : Grade 6 / £18.74 per hour (inclusive of additional hours payment/shift payment) What Were Looking For : Were looking for a detail-focused team player with experience in microbiological, chemical, and equipment testing. Youll work closely with production to resolve quality issues, ensure customer specifications are met, and support continuous improvement. What Youll Be Doing: Follow all procedures as outlined in relevant SOPs. Ensure safe working practices and report any safety concerns or incidents immediately. Participate in safety tours, hazard identification, and risk assessments as required. Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members regarding QA findings. Ensure accurate documentation of quality checks and contribute to effective shift handovers. Engage in regular coaching sessions with your Line Manager. Conduct chemical and microbiological testing with accurate documentation. Investigate out-of-spec results and support resolution of quality issues. Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; perform internal audits and quality checks. Ensure compliance with SOPs and customer specifications, including documentation like COAs and certificates. Support continuous improvement and stay updated on scientific developments. Minimise and report spillages; support investigation and corrective actions. Dispose of waste according to recycling protocols. Report potential environmental risks to the Site Services Manager. The successful candidates must have: Essential: GCSE/OLevel (Grade C or above) in English, Maths, and a Science-related subject, or equivalent. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, or a HND/equivalent in Food Science or related technical discipline (open to recent graduates). Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, laboratory procedures, and workplace Health & Safety. Ability to work rotating day shifts, including weekends. Participate in cross-training within the department and demonstrate flexibility in supporting other areas of the QA function as needed.
