Electrician – Street Lighting
Salary: £35,235 - £39,513 (Grade 6)

Work Style: Rota between 06:00-18:00 Monday-Friday & Saturday 6:00-14:00
This role requires a full UK driving license and out of hours working (on-call/standby duty).
We are seeking an electrician to provide operational support for the efficient operation and maintenance of the Street Lighting Network, including routine and non-routine maintenance, and participation in the call-out rota for the Street Lighting Team.
Role responsibilities:
1. Carry out non-routine maintenance to street lighting, illuminated signs, traffic signals, and other highway electrical infrastructure.
2. Perform routine maintenance on the same infrastructure.
3. Conduct electrical testing according to BS 7671 17th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations.
4. Assist in the installation of street lighting, signs, traffic signals, and other highway electrical infrastructure.
5. Fault find on Wolverhampton Council’s private cable network and carry out necessary repairs on single and three-phase networks.
Essential requirements:
1. Full UK driving licence.
2. Ability to operate gritting machinery.
3. City & Guilds Electrical 236 parts 1 & 2 / NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
4. City & Guilds 2382 / BS 7671 current edition or equivalent.
5. IPAF Mobile Elevated Platform Certification.
6. Experience with maintenance, testing, and renewal of street lighting and highway electrical systems.
7. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
8. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
