The need to address climate change and reduce our collective emissions is the biggest challenge we face today. Solar and wind generation are vital to the transition away from fossil fuels, but they are intermittent. We need affordable and sustainable energy storage to help solve this problem, and we need the best people to do it.
Cheesecake Energy Ltd (CEL) is a fast-growing technology company whose mission is to accelerate the clean energy transition. We are doing this by developing a new technology for industrial-scale energy storage that will be needed in huge numbers as the world moves to intermittent renewables. CEL’s system is made of readily available and fully recyclable materials to store electricity in the form of heat and compressed air – for example we repurpose truck engines to serve as electrically driven piston air compressors. This, combined with our system’s long life and use of circular supply chains, delivers a low environmental impact and allows us to deliver ‘the world's greenest battery’.
