Process Chemist

Location: Derby, Raynesway
Job Description
We are seeking capable, experienced, and proactive Process Chemists to join our growing team. In this high-impact role, you will lead engineering packages and contribute to the regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site, a major infrastructure project replacing current facilities with modern manufacturing capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Develop solutions for chemistry problems and underpinning science for a Nuclear Fuel Processing Plant.
* Provide technical advice for plant design and operation, including safety, equipment specifications, and analysis techniques.
* Identify and evaluate new technologies to develop safe and effective chemical processes, ensuring product quality and plant throughput.
* Define safe operating envelopes and process chemistries, including nuclear fuel reprocessing systems such as liquid-liquid separation, dissolution, and waste treatment.
* Facilitate laboratory trials, support Safety Case, hazard analysis, and fault analysis.
* Define analysis requirements, sampling plans, and control charts for production and quality assurance.
* Participate in all design stages from stakeholder requirements to commissioning and operating documentation.
* Contribute chemical expertise to reviews of design, safety, quality, and environmental assessments.
Requirements
* Degree in Chemistry or related discipline; Post-graduate qualifications (Ph.D. preferred).
* Experience in separation, waste treatment, or nuclear fuel processing is desirable but not essential.
* Membership of a professional engineering institution is preferable.
