As they continue to scale, they are looking for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to strengthen the finance team and support the delivery of accurate, timely financial insight across the business.This is an excellent opportunity for someone studying towards ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) who is looking to progress their career within a supportivemercial environment.The RoleAs an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in the month‑end process, financial analysis, and reporting to support operational decision‑making.
Your new role Key Responsibilities
1. Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
2. Support the production of monthly variance analysis andmentary for operational teams.
3. Maintain cost centre information and support budget holders withmercial insight.
4. Assist with standard costing, BOM reviews, and product costing analysis.
5. Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
6. Support weekly and monthly KPI reporting, including production, labour, and material variances.
7. Assist in forecasting and budgeting processes.
8. Work with operational teams to understand drivers behind performance and variances.
9. Support year‑end audit requirements and provide information as requested.
10. Participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial controls and reporting quality.
11. Carry out ad‑hoc financial analysis to support the Finance Manager and site leadership team.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, and eager to develop. You should befortable working in a busy manufacturing environment with tight deadlines and a need for high accuracy.
Essential:
12. Studying towards CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent) OR relevant practical experience.
13. Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, basic modelling).
14. Good understanding of management accounts and financial processes.
15. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
16. Ability tomunicate financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
17. Strong analytical mindset with a willingness to question and improve processes.
Desirable:
18. Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
19. Knowledge of standard costing, ERP/MRP systems, and stock accounting.
20. Experience with variance analysis and KPI reporting.
