Overview
We are looking for a Commercial Services Manager to support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors. This vital role helps maximise value for money, supports project success, and contributes to long-term collaborative partnership arrangements that benefit both the organisation and society. The role sits in the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team within the Programme and Contract Management Service, part of Portfolio Management, Assurance & Commercial (PMAC).
You will be part of a national team and will support local delivery hub leadership to ensure sustainable outcomes across delivery programmes. The environment agency emphasises a diverse, inclusive workforce and flexible working patterns.
Responsibilities
* Support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long-term collaborative partnership arrangements.
* Provide country-wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and wider Project Management community to champion effective governance and commercial assurance.
* Develop excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high-performing team.
* Participate in incident response duties and training as required to support communities and protect the environment.
* Contribute to delivering value for money through strong commercial risk management and information management.
Experience/Skills/Qualifications
* Essential: A-Level Qualifications, Level 3 Qualifications or equivalent.
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen: ability to understand and analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and seek value-for-money solutions; demonstrated curiosity and drive.
* Administration skills: strong organisation, ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to shadow, undertake long-term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC training, CIPS), and proactive in asking questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
* Desirable: Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience; working towards status with a professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, or RICS); formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).

* Hybrid working; some travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.
