We are professional and agile.

We are seeking a Deputy Manager/Room Leader to join our nursery team near Headingley Train Station. The ideal candidate will assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the provision of high-quality childcare, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children and supporting the staff team.

Reports to: Nursery Manager

Location: The Tots Team, Former Headingley Train Station Building

Job Purpose:

To support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education for all children. The Deputy Nursery Manager will manage staff, oversee activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves leading by example, supporting staff development, and stepping into the Nursery Manager's role when required.

The Room Leader is responsible for creating a safe, stimulating environment and managing staff within their room to ensure the effective delivery of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Management:

2. Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the nursery.

3. Lead and support the staff team, ensuring high standards of care and education.

4. Manage staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover at all times.

5. Take charge of the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

6. Conduct regular staff meetings and contribute to performance appraisals.

Lead and supervise the staff in your room, ensuring smooth daily operations.

* Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members effectively.

* Ensure all team members understand and adhere to the nursery's policies and procedures.

* Provide support and guidance to junior staff and students.

* **Childcare & Education:**

* Ensure the curriculum meets the developmental needs of all children.

* Implement and monitor planning and assessment systems.

* Work directly with children to provide a stimulating and safe environment.

* Ensure that all children receive the necessary support and care, including children with special needs.

Plan and implement a curriculum that meets the developmental needs of the children.

* Monitor and record children's development and learning, maintaining accurate records.

* Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play.

* **Compliance & Safety:**

* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including health and safety and safeguarding procedures.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements.

* Ensure that all records and reports are accurate and up-to-date.

* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of the nursery environment.

Ensure the room is clean, safe, and well-organized at all times.

* Administer first aid as necessary (if qualified).

* **Parent Liaison:**

* Act as the main point of contact for parents in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

* Maintain positive relationships with parents, addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.

* Organize and participate in parents' meetings and nursery events.

* Provide regular feedback on children's progress and development.

* Address any concerns or issues raised by parents in a professional manner.

* **Professional Development:**

* Support the ongoing professional development of staff through training and mentoring.

* Identify and address training needs within the team.

* Participate in your own continuous professional development.

* Identify training needs and opportunities for team members.

* Participate in and contribute to staff meetings and training sessions.

**Qualifications & Experience:**

* Minimum Level 3 in Early Years Education and Childcare (or equivalent).

* Previous experience in a supervisory role within an early years setting.

* Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

* Proven ability to manage and lead a team.

**Skills:**

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

* Ability to work well under pressure and solve problems effectively.

* A nurturing and caring nature.

**Additional Requirements:**

* Enhanced DBS check.

* First Aid qualification (preferred).

Pay: From £14.00 per hour
