Offer description

Media Manager - International

What we can offer you

* Salary: The base salary is £50,000 with a potential to earn 10% bonus depending on business performance.
* Location: This is a hybrid role with a mixture of home working and time at our global head office in London - so you can work with the team
* Job purpose: This is a fast-paced and multi faceted role that involves engaging with key media stakeholders at a regional, national, and international level.

About the role and team

As a Media Manager - International, you will work closely with Isabella, our Senior Media Manager to lead the preparation and delivery of media engagement plans. The role focuses on both proactive and reactive communications, including creating stories for key stakeholders and responding to national and international media enquiries. A key responsibility is managing UK and international crises and providing guidance during major events. The majority of media enquiries are UK-based, so international experience is a bonus rather than essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Representing G4S to international, UK national, regional, and trade media.
* Effectively managing and prioritising reactive media enquiries from national and international media.
* Building and owning relationships with key media stakeholders, including national and international reporters.
* Leading and delivering multiple workstreams and communications campaigns using traditional and social media channels.
* Researching and creating well-written content like press releases, articles, videos, and social media posts.
* Providing crisis communications services and handling urgent late-night or weekend calls when required.

What we're looking for

* At least five years' experience working within the communications industry, preferably in a press office either in-house or at an agency.
* Demonstrable crisis communications experience and national and potentially international media handling experience.
* Excellent writing skills, backed up by the ability to evaluate complex information quickly and accurately. You must be able to write press releases and statements with a very quick turnaround, sometimes during crisis weekends.
* A strong background in a business services or B2B/B2G environment is ideal, and experience as an ex-journalist is seen as beneficial
* The ability to build relationships quickly and easily and the confidence to speak with journalists (including national, business, and Home Affairs correspondents).
* Experience placing and crafting proactive news releases

The recruitment process

G4S runs a staged recruitment process which includes:

* Applying online with a CV.
* Shortlisted applicants will have a phone call with our Talent Team to learn more about the role.
* A two stage interview process
* Background checks, including right to work, reference, DBS checks and a medical questionnaire.
