Join Our Facilities Team – Assistant Cook
Are you enthusiastic about food, teamwork, and helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting the delivery of high-quality school meals across Falkirk Council.
In this key role, you’ll assist the Cook in Charge with food preparation, service, and kitchen operations – helping provide safe, nutritious, and appealing meals that support pupils’ health and wellbeing.
What You’ll Do:
1. Support the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals
2. Assist with stock control, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness
3. Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations
4. Contribute to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised kitchen environment
5. Provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff
What We’re Looking For:
6. A positive, flexible attitude and strong team ethic
7. Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is desirable
8. Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – full training provided
9. Confidence in using kitchen equipment and following food safety procedures
10. Ability to work under pressure and manage tasks in a busy school environment
The Role:
11. Location: Bowhouse Primary School
12. Hours: 22.5 hours per week, term time only
13. Days: Monday to Friday 9am to 1.30pm (half hour unpaid break)
14. Contract: Permanent
15. Reporting to: Cook in Charge
