Role Overview
As the Lead Psychotherapist for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, the successful candidate will work in partnership with senior clinicians across multiple disciplines to develop pathways and model‑driven interventions for children, young people and their families/carers within a community CAMHS setting. The post holder will also provide expert assessment, treatment planning and care coordination in line with national and local guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Take a lead role, in partnership with senior clinicians across disciplines, for developing Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy pathways and model‑driven interventions.
* Take delegated management responsibility for appraisals and ensuring supervision arrangements are in place for psychotherapy staff within the borough CAMHS service.
* Deputise for and accept delegated leadership responsibility for the CAMHS Management Team as appropriate.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological therapy practice, under the supervision of the psychological therapies lead for CAMHS.
* Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
* Propose and implement policy changes within the borough CAMHS service and Trust‑wide CAMHS forums.
* Hold a clinical caseload according to the job plan.
* Lead the delivery of key KPIs and performance outcomes for the discipline within Enfield CAMHS.
* Provide generic mental health and specialist psychotherapeutic assessments of children, adolescents and their families/carers, drawing on psychological measures, rating scales, structured observations and semi‑structured interviews.
* Formulate and implement treatment or management plans for mental health problems, using evidence‑based methods across all care settings and in consultation with the MDT.
* Implement a range of psychotherapeutic model‑driven interventions for children, young people and their families, adjusting and refining formulations in consultation with the Senior Management Team.
* Provide assessment and discharge care planning for children and young people presenting for assessment in the acute NHS hospital as part of a local protocol and rota.
Other Requirements
As part of the Trust’s commitment to flexibility, the role may require working at different locations within Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington, or any other site deemed necessary by the Trust.
