About the Role
NPL is the UK`s National Measurement Institute providing the measurement expertise that underpins UK prosperity and quality of life. From unhackable quantum communications and superfast 5G to antibiotic alternatives and more effective cancer diagnosis/treatments; technological advances must be built on a foundation of reliable measurement to succeed. Building on over a century`s worth of expertise, NPL`s science, engineering and technology makes this possible. You will be working on the TRUTHS mission – which is a climate focused satellite mission led by the UK Space Agency in partnership with several European states. It will facilitate improved understanding of changes in the Earth’s climate and the response to the worlds net zero agenda. NPLs expertise is integral to the mission development – providing support to the design of the mission as part of the industrial consortium as well as providing the UK mission science and engineering lead. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who is committed to excellence and will provide portfolio and project leadership and management to ensure the successful delivery of the complex NPL’s Truths portfolio and some Truths related projects. Organised, business-savvy and with great communication skills, you’re a natural influencer who’s able to manage projects in a positive way. This will be dependent on the kind of role you do and part of the business you work in. About You The skills and experience you will bring to the role:
1. Demonstrable experience of working within a PMO environment.
2. A track record of successfully leading and managing R&D or commercial projects for multiple stakeholders across an organisation.
3. A track record of portfolio management.
4. Managing change within projects and communicating to a wide range stakeholder across the business.
5. Managing risks and issues within projects and coordinating mitigation actions between stakeholders of all levels.
6. Project budgeting and forecasting experience.
7. Reporting to project stakeholders and customers within agreed deadlines.
8. Experience in demonstrating responsibility for managing expectations of stakeholders and the perception of the project within, and outside of, the organisation.
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex information, tailored to a specific audience.
10. Experience in developing and applying project management processes and tools, and a willingness to continually improve.
11. Experience in bids and developing and winning projects.
12. Experience of contract management
13. Ability to travel both outside and within UK.

14. Proficiency in MS Project
15. PMP/PRINCE2/APM PMQ project management qualification
