Our clients include conservation charities, English Heritage, The National Trust, public schools, interior designers, architects, construction companies and private clients.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lead Wood Machinist to join our machine shop team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in precision craftsmanship, understands the art of material selection, and is passionate about producing components of the highest structural and aesthetic quality. * As lead wood machinist you would be responsible for leading a skilled machining team to meet manufacturing targets
* The lead wood machinist will be required to produce high-quality, accurate components to specification
* As lead wood machinist you will be able to select appropriate materials for optimal finish and consistency
* Proactively identify design, materials, and construction challenges
* Mentor and develop an apprentice on a daily basis
* Contribute to innovation in methods, materials, and equipment
Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 years’ proven wood machining experience in a furniture making/joinery workshop environment
* Strong materials knowledge and selection skills
* Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
* Experience with or willingness to mentor apprentices
* Sound understanding of health & safety legislation
* Proactive mindset and passion for continuous improvement
